Egress Window Installation
Egress windows can bring your basement living spaces up to code, providing safety for your family. They can also increase your property value while adding airflow, natural light, and style.
Installing an egress window involves:
- Excavation – excavating the exterior of the egress site
- Wall cutting – cutting a space in the wall for the egress window
- Egress window and grate installation – setting the egress window into the wall and, if desired, adding a grate or cover on top
- Drainage – ensuring proper drainage at the bottom of the egress well and around the exterior of the egress site
- Back fill – adding dirt back to the excavated site
- Finishing – ensuring the exterior of the egress window matches your home’s exterior
There are many styles of egress windows and wells to choose from. Egress window frames are typically made of vinyl, aluminum, fiberglass, wood, or steel. KK&E can also do fully customized egress well installations built from materials like landscaping block or timber.
